"Sikshana Foundation organised a Teachers’ Conclave for the Maddur Block on March 28, 2024. The event brought together 21 teachers; 20 educational officers including Cluster Resource Persons and Block Resource Persons and seven members from the Foundation. This gave an opportunity for the teachers to share their feedback and suggestions with regards to enhancing the FLN Program implementation for the upcoming year."
"During the past month, Sikshana Foundation, in collaboration with LTIMindtree and the Department of Education, organized FLN quiz competitions at cluster, block and district-level in various phases. In Chamarajanagar district, the FLN quiz competition was held on March 12, 2024, across 382 government higher primary schools (GHPSs), culminating in the final district-level quiz competition on March 22, 2024. A total of around 1146 students from 382 schools and 382 teachers participated in the cluster-level quiz competition, while 75 students from 25 schools and 25 teachers took part in the block-level quiz competition. GHPS Dinnahalli emerged as the winner at the final district-level competition. With the unprecedented support from all teachers, Department of Education officials, local leaders, parents and students the event was a successful one."
"We are glad to partner with the United Way of Hyderabad and HSBC in their latest initiative aimed at harnessing renewable energy. This project involves installation of solar power infrastructure units in 35 government schools and 6 health centres, located in Bangalore, generating 159KW and 30KW respectively. The continuous supply of electricity from these solar units will directly benefit students by enabling them to use laptops and ensuring uninterrupted power for emergency situations in health centres. During the inaugural event held on March 19, 2024, Prasanna, CEO of Sikshana Foundation, emphasized the importance of sustainable solutions. He highlighted Sikshana Foundation's commitment to implementing sustainable practices across all its projects."
"On March 19, 2024, Sikshana Foundation with support from Praj Foundation, hosted the "Umang" quiz competition based on FLN competencies at the block level, in Pune district, Maharashtra. 44 schools competed initially, 7 schools (70 students) advancing to the final round. We saw the participation of 21 teachers, both CRP and BRP and 4 parents. Mr. Vijay Ramachandran, Vice President of Praj Foundation was present at the event and appreciated the efforts. The top 5 schools received the Annual Award for excellence in implementing the Prerana Program, while 6 students were honored for their remarkable performance in peer learning groups and utilizing FLN workbooks effectively."
"On March 15th, 2024, we launched the Sikshana Early Education (SEE) program at Shivanahalli Grama Panchayat, Kanakapura. We're proud to support 10 Anganwadi centres, benefiting over 200 children aged 3 to 6 years. This collaborative effort with Asha for Education emphasizes our commitment to early childhood development. Present at the launch were Ms. Smitha Venkatesh, Ms. Shsifali, Mr. Naveen Chikanna from Sikshana Foundation, alongside Mr. Sudhi Gulur joining in virtually from Seattle, representing Asha for Education. Additionally, Ms. Saraswati, Assistant CDPO, WCD, GoK, was present at the event."
"Indigenous Technologies for Developed India" was the theme for this year’s National Science Day. Sikshana Foundation celebrated this day by involving 207 students from three schools in Kanakapura, Nelamangala, and Maddur taluks. More than 115 teachers and 50 educational officials also participated, with donor representatives from Brillio, ABB and CGI inaugurating the event in respective taluks. Students showcased their creative ideas through model and poster making and also took part in quizzes based on foundational literacy and numeracy. Posters displayed were related to awareness about waste management, success of Mission Chandrayaan-3 and environment protection. Science models across physics, chemistry and biology were showcased using the components provided by Sikshana."
"On February 28, 2024, scholarships and laptops were distributed to 10 selected students as part of the Women in Engineering (WiE) Program, supported by Amadeus Software Labs Pvt Ltd at the PDEA college premises. These students belonged to PDEA college, JSPM college and Sri Ram Chandra College, Pune. Team members from Amedeus, Sikshana and college representatives were also present."

"In a unique initiative, students of BBMP School Kodandaramapuram in Bangalore interacted with Japanese students virtually. Dell's Mosaic ERG members held an online Cultural Quotient Improvement Program on Jan 30, 2024, where they connected 37 students of Grade 7 studying in BBMP School Kodandaramapura, Malleshwaram with 20 students from Grade 6 of Oodaira Elementary School, Nihonmatsu City in Japan. The students interacted and understood each other’s cuisines, clothing, sports and other cultural habits. It was a unique experience for Sikshana mentors, school students & authorities as they had a glimpse of the Japanese classroom, students and their routine and culture."
"As part of the National Girl Child Day celebrations, 42 girl students accompanied by their lady teachers from four government schools of Maddur block had the opportunity to visit the CGI office in Bangalore. They were engaged in various activities, and they also had the opportunity to interact with the Leadership team. The aim of this exercise was to inspire and encourage young girls to pursue education and build their confidence."
"Students from government schools in Ramanagara, Kanakapura, Nelamangala, Bangalore South Zone 1 and 4, and Bangalore North showcased their athletic spirit in various games. Supported by Dell Technologies, the event on Jan 6th, 2024, saw 731 students participating in relay runs, volleyball, throwball, and more. 400 Dell volunteers provided valuable assistance to the event."
"This year on National Mathematics Day (Dec 22) which marks the birth anniversary of Indian mathematician Ramanujan, Sikshana team celebrated it with students from 44 schools across three blocks in Maharashtra and few schools in Karnataka. As part of the celebrations, group activities were planned which involved understanding mathematical concepts of numbers, conversion of units and fractions. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and they understood the importance of mathematics. This helped them develop a positive attitude toward it."
"53 students from GHPS Thattekere, Kanakapura went on an education tour to Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological museum on December 12th, 2023. The students were accompanied by their teachers, volunteers from Brillio and Sikshana team. The visit to the museum is a continued effort to give exposure to the students to inculcate interest in science apart from enhancing their foundational competencies."
"A new batch of 15 talented young girls were inducted into Women in Engineering (WiE) Program supported by Amadeus Software Labs Pvt Ltd. The launch of the Program was hosted on Dec 11, 2023 at their office at PrestigeTech park, Bangalore. "50 students from class 4th to 7th from GHPS S Gollahalli, Chikkaballapur visited Visvesvaraya Museum in Bangalore on Nov 29, 2023. 19 volunteers from Target accompanied the students to the museum. The visit was an exposure to experiential learning which helped students inculcate interest in science and build a scientific temperament."
